Influence of Access to Reading Material during Concept Map Recomposition in Reading Comprehension and Retention

چکیده

This study investigated the influence of reading time while building a closed concept map on comprehension and retention. It also effect having access to text during creation Participants from Amazon Mechanical Turk (N =101) read text, took an after-text test, part in one three conditions, “Map & Text”, only”, “Double after-activity followed by two-week retention period then final delayed test. Analysis revealed that higher times were associated with better Furthermore, when comparing Text” only” condition, short-term was improved, but long-term not improved. suggests maps can improve comprehension, long term learning only be improved if students invest accessing both text.
